The Vitruvian Man by Leonardo da Vinci, drawn around 1490, is a famous sketch illustrating ideal human body proportions. Inspired by the writings of the ancient Roman architect Vitruvius, it shows a male figure in two overlapping positions with arms and legs outstretched inside a circle and a square.
